It's beginning to look A LOT like Christmas!!

And frankly I'm not pleased! I was truly enjoying the lovely, "send the kids outside" weather we were having! Plus, there goes the garden. (Sorry, deer!) -sigh-

And here's a shout out to Heather for coming out to share some good conversation and some tasty grilled cheese sandwiches! Thank for making the drive...it was delightful! :D

Favorites of Today...

First, I must comment on my newest favorite commercial: It's the new Kotex commercial, the one with the girl with the short dark hair. (I know I can look up stuff, and then cleverly put a link here for convenient viewing...but I haven't played with my knowledge on that yet...I promise it's worth looking up, though!!) Funniest commercial I've seen in a REALLY long time! (I'm like, "Oh, THAT'S what's supposed to happen.") *guffaw*

Second, I was at the library today and Spencer found a "Gummi Bears" movie. Remember the Gummi Bears cartoon from the 80's? With the special "gummi beary juice" that made them all bouncy? Both the little boys are enjoying it...And it is making me giggle just a bit!

In the zone...

Just sat down and played 5 games of solitaire...won them all. Yeah. I'm THAT good. (But I closed the game, 'cause I've used up about 3 months worth of wins now.)

Excited for upcoming events!

Is it manipulation, do you think, to convince your hubby that for Mother's Day you want tickets to the Tim McGraw/Lady Antibellum concert he REALLY wants to see? Nah...I didn't think so either! :D

But don't get me wrong...I'm very excited for the show! I was thinking the other day that my concert experiences have been severely limited. (Basically, I've seen Josh Groban (Awesome!), half of a freezing cold Alan Jackson concert (could have skipped it...), Sarah Brightman (Christine from Phantom of the Opera...she was strange!), and, well, The Wiggles (of all the concerts I've seen, this one was second only to Josh Groban! Thanks, Kendra!))

And the concert will take place just a week before our 13th weddin' anniversary...! It promises to be a fabulous night out! Love you, baby!

Fun with dirt

So I planted a garden yesterday. Well, I guess to be fair I have to say that Lee planted a garden yesterday...with help from our 5 kids, plus an additional 3 that decided to hang out and play in the dirt. I did however put together our new raised garden beds. We planted lots of stuff, but I'm only really excited about the peas. Not that it will matter...really our garden is just there to feed the deer that will want a snack. :D Anyway, I'm in the line at WalMart buying 10 bags of garden soil and a few flowers, like 8-9 different ones, to put in pots in my front yard when a very wise man in line in front of me says, "I think you have too much soil there for those plants". Yes. Yes I do.

And I forgot...I was supposed to give my review of Avatar...It was way better than I expected. And I liked the original "FernGully", so I found the remake refreshing! :D

Weekend's a-coming

Don't you just hate laundry? I do. I'm just saying...not fun. I like clean stuff to wear though, so I persist. :D Also spent part of the day de-grossing the bathrooms...! Eww. So tonight we have a family night planned...We're having some hot dogs (We are truly a gourmet family...!) and watching "Avatar". I haven't seen it yet. So tune in tomorrow to read my in-depth review.*

*Please note that said critic is a TERRIBLE movie reviewer because she likes everthing...so only bother to tune in if you want to hear the nice things she'll have to say about almost every movie she sees! (Yeah...Easily entertained.)

I caught a Troll!!

I've got a great story to share! This story involves a woman who has a 42-year-old down syndrome child who is developmentally an 8-year-old.

The mother is at work at a nail salon. Her son is home during the day, and she goes home to have lunch with him every day. Her son tries to call her 4 or 5 times that morning but each time she is unavailable. He calls again and she is at the desk and answers the phone. Excitedly, he tells his mom, "Mom, Mom...I caught a troll!" She tells him okay, and that she'll see him when she comes home for lunch. Before she can leave the desk he calls her again with the same message, "Mom...I caught a troll!"...and then 2 more times after that!! So she figures something is wrong at home and arranges with her boss to leave to check in with her son. She arrives home to find her son dancing excitedly at the door watching for her. He greets her with the same message: "Mom! I caught a troll!"

Then he opens the door to the closet. Inside is a midget. The "troll" was a Jehovah's Witness who had knocked on the door, and when the son opened the door he grabbed this little man and shoved him in the closet...and then proceeded to hold him there all the time he was trying to get a hold of his mom.

Gosh...I'm STILL laughing!!

More spring fun

Wow...Not even a whole week and then I start skipping days! I guess I shouldn't be too surprised!

While out browsing the yard last night, we noticed some of our trees didn't survive the winter. Sad! But Lee planted our new splash of color and they look fabulous! A few pink and yellow flowered bushes/plants. Also, if you like your kids to go to bed at 8:00 but it's summer so it is still a little light outside so they are out playing with neighbors, DON'T call them in and tell them it's bedtime in front of said friends, because it might REALLY embarrass your oldest daughter! I'm just saying...!

Saturday Morning

So tell me...what is worse than the neighbor that leaves their Christmas lights up all year? How about the one who goes out in April to take them down, get half of them down, and then decides to stop. Yep...That's me! :D We got what we could reach from the ladder...the rest involves climbing on the roof. I guess we're gonna build up to that!

It was a wonderful warm day of bike riding, basketball and four-square playing, and chalk drawing! Lee helped "pretty up the yard some" by spraying all the yucky weeds...He does an excellent job of making them go away so I don't have to actually pull them. Also received Christmas in April (so maybe the lights are appropriate?) when the awesome neighbors across the street brought us some new-old stuff...pegs for a couple of the kids bikes, some snow boots for next year, a gun that "makes shoot sounds", and a HUGE inflatable water slide...! Yipee!

Know what I love?

SPRING!! Or more specifically, pulling into my driveway in spring (this driveway always covered in new chalk drawings done by the kids) and seeing the new flowers! Lee planted several hundred bulbs last year, and the daffodils are fabulous and cheerful. And now come the tulips! Joy, cheer, and GOODBYE WINTER! Hooray!! Bring on the spring!!

The Very Hungry Caterpiller?

So my kids were out playing in the dirt. The conversation goes like this:

Spencer: Mom...Look! I found a caterpiller!

Mom: Wow...that's great!

Spencer: Ouch! (throws caterpiller...) It bit me!

Sydney: (picking up caterpiller) Duh! Caterpillers don't bi...Oww! (also throws caterpiller)

Mom: (laughing too hard to say anything at all!!!)

Where is the video camera when you need it? :D

Stiff-Neckedness...

Spent last night lovingly mocking my sweet hubby. He had one of those neck kinks that makes you unable to turn your head without turning your whole body. The kids and I spent the whole night copying him...keeping our necks stiff every time we turned to say something to him. I'm still chuckling at how silly we all were being. Hope it feels better today...but if not, I'm sure another fun evening is in store! Love you sweety! :D

Umm...Now what...?

So I'm jealous of all the cute people I know who blog. And I feel totally left out of the blogging world. I mean, I like when people listen to what I say, so why not see if I like when people read what I write, right? Or at the very least, it will be like talking to myself, which I do frequently anyway. It will be fun to write down all the things that mchappen in the life of me and the rest of us McAlisters!
